Governor Mike Foster
Inducted on May 25, 2003

Governor Mike Foster Louisiana Governor “Mike” Foster will be honored as a "Living Legend."A special program entitled “Merci Au Gouverneur” (Thanks to the Governor) will convey to him the “thanks from the people of Acadiana” for Governor Foster’s life-time work as a Senator and Governor. Thanks will be given from the people of Acadiana by representatives of Creole, German, Lebanese, Spanish, African-American, Native American, Acadian, Italian, French and English speakers.The event will be a fund-raiser for the AcadianMuseum of Erath and will include a raffle of items donated by businesses such as a fabulous weekend in the French Quarter for two in New Orleans at the Le Richelieu Hotel and its “Le Richelieu Suite Indulgence Package” (includes drinks, parking and breakfast).Other corporate sponsors include: Acadian Ambulance, Award Master, Breaux’s Mart, Café Rouge (coffee), Champagne’s Supermarket, CODOFIL, Don’s Boat Landing, Dronet’s Floor Gallery, Eddie’s One Stop, Embers Steak House, Jefferson Street Market, Lynn G’s Restaurant, Magdalen Place, Music Mountain Water, Perrin, Landry, deLaunay, Dartez & Ouellet, Pirate’s Seafood, Red Lerille’s Health & Racquet Club, Ruth Chris Steakhouse, SLEMCO, T-Bob’s Seafood, The Ducote-Williams House and The Oaks Bar & Grill.Anyone wishing more information for this event should contact Robert Vincent at (337) 937 - 5585. The museum is celebrating the Bicentennial of the Louisiana Purchase by having a special exhibitwhich is listed on the Louisiana Tourism’s website: LouisianaPurchase2003.com.The museum is staffed by the following individuals who volunteer of their time: Russell Gary, Carlin Trahan (Volunteer, Co-ordinator), Ramona Babineaux, Jane Broussard, Kelly Ruth Broussard, Perfay and Lillian Broussard, Vergie Delahoussaye, Louis Landry, Belva LeBlanc, Carey LeBlanc, Relie LeBlanc, Mary Picard, Gloria Sonnier, Adrien Derouen, William Darby and Inez Vincent.

The AcadianMuseum of Erath has worked over the years to develop international understanding and relations among various Francophone cultures of the world.It is twinned with the Museé Falaise-Acadie-Québec of Les Ormes, France, a financial supporter of the Erath French Club, a member of the Louisiana Associations of Museums, the recipient of numerous awards promoting cultural tourism such as the 2000 LSU Sea Grant Rural Tourism Award and has been the subject of numerous documentaries and articles in state, national and international publications, including: National Geographic magazine; LA Times magazine; Where magazine; Louisiana Life; Atlanta Constitution; UL magazine La Louisiane; Daily Iberian; the World and I; Paris Match magazine; Le Monde and Le Courrier du Vietnam; The Economist magazine; Le Figaro; The London Times, New York Times,et al.
