Harold Short
Inducted on September 06, 2019

Harold Short Harold Short was born 11 April 1948. His parents were Voorhies Short and Laura Gauthreaux. Short attended W.A. LaRosen Elementary School, Lafayette Middle School, and Lafayette High School. He graduated from Northside High School in Lafayette in 1967.
After graduating he enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 19. In 1967, Short attended basic training in Amarillo, Texas. From basic training, he then attended Technical School in Chanute AFB Illinois, where he was trained as a Parachute Rigger Specialist. From Technical School, in 1967, he was then assigned to Nellis AFB Nevada. Followed by Skysail Parachute Training at George AFB California in 1968. After completing his training, Short was stationed at Taklai, Thailand and Saigon, Vietnam 1968. At MacDill AFB Florida, he was given an Honorable Discharged in 1971. Then in 1972 he re-enlisted in USAF at MacDill AFB Florida. Following that year in 1973, he was transferred to Anderson AFB Guam. After five years of service, in 1979, Short was then transferred to Bergstrom AFB Texas. There he completed 20 years of active military service. Short then retired in 1987 from the United States Air Force with a more complete understanding of what his country meant to him with honorable conditions and a collection of honorable medals.
From February 1988-April 1990, Short was hired as an Explosive Supervisor with Perf-O-Log Electric Wireline Service. During the year of 1990 until February 1992, he was recruited to begin work as an Explosive Supervisor with Atlas Wireline Service where he completed his duties and returned to Perf-O-Log where he was then re-hired. In August 2009, Perf-O-Log then merged with another company leaving Short to move to his now current position at Precision Wireline Service, LLC, as a consultant.
Short joined Acadiana Veterans Honor Guard in 2017, which was a established organization in 2014 for fallen veterans. There he perform full military services, which includes casket posting, final salute and grave site firing with M1 Garand with 21 rounds. He also performs Flag Ceremonies and Hospice Pinnings with the support of Hospice of Acadiana. He is also a lifetime member of the VFW Post 9210 in Youngsville. He was elected July 2019 as a trustee.
Short has been married to Anna Bienvenue for 51 years, has a daughter Racquel and son Chad. He has five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
