Living Legends

Tim Creswell
Inducted on September 11, 2010

Tim Creswell A native of Vermilion Parish, Mr. Creswell had a distinguished career with UNOCAL where he managed a fleet of 28 offshore service vessels and 12 helicopters. From 2005 to the present, he served as the Assistant Director of the Vermilion Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. During Hurricane Katrina, he oversaw the sheltering of over 900 evacuees. For Hurricane Rita, he re-opened shelters and supervised the sheltering and feeding of evacuees. At the request of the Vermilion Parish Coroner’s office, he assumed responsibility for recovering human remains that were displaced from 10 cemeteries by Hurricane Rita’s storm surge. He recovered over 250 sets of human remains and oversaw the location, identification and re-burial processes.

In 2001, he served as the Louisiana State Disaster Chairman for the American Red Cross, Acadian Chapter. He remains active with the organization, having served as its chairman from 1996 to 2001 and a member of the Board of Directors from 2008 to the present. His affiliations include:
• Abbeville Harbor and Terminal District and Port of Vermilion Board of Commissioners-President
• Vermilion Parish Police Jury Spokesperson for Hurricane Protection
• Liaison between Vermilion Parish Police Jury and Senator David Vitter’s Office for Hurricane Protection.
• Liaison between Vermilion Parish Police Jury, Congressman Charles Boustany’s office and US Army Corps of Engineers for the “Boustany Study” Project which addresses Hurricane Protection for South and Southwest Louisiana’s Coastal Parishes.

He is certified by the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management to teach incident command system courses 300 and 400 levels to emergency responders and public officials.
